Use this app like an adult, and we'll all be fine.
CivicTab exists so regular people can review public servants the same way they review restaurants, doctors, and Uber drivers. These rules are how we keep it useful — and keep it from becoming a harassment platform.
By using CivicTab you agree to all of this. Skip the legalese: tell the truth about your own experience, don't dox anyone, don't post other people's private info, and we'll get along fine.
You can do this
- Write about an interaction you personally had with a public servant (cop, EMT, DMV clerk, hospital staff, school official, elected official).
- Use your own name or stay anonymous — your call.
- Post both recognitions and concerns. Both belong on the record.
- React, reply, and quote stories.
- Vote on polls and submit your own.
- Use CivicTab as a journalist, researcher, or advocate.
You can't do this — and we will remove it
- No personal contact info. No phone numbers, addresses, emails, SSNs, license plates. Our auto-filter blocks the obvious patterns; mods catch the rest.
- No children. Don't name, photograph, or identify minors — even if they're part of the story. Refer to roles instead ("the principal," "the school nurse").
- No threats. Direct or implied. Includes "someone should…" framing.
- No coordinating harassment. Don't tell other users to call, show up at, or pile on a named person.
- No stories about people you didn't personally interact with. Second-hand stories are rumors, not record.
- No fabricated stories. Inventing an interaction is defamation. We will remove and may ban.
- No spam, scraping, or AI-generated story floods. One story per real interaction.
- No private-sector targets. CivicTab is for public servants only. Yelp is for restaurants.
- No commercial use without permission. Don't scrape, resell, or rebadge CivicTab content.
Who owns what
You own what you write. We get a non-exclusive license to display it on CivicTab forever, in any format (web, mobile, archived). You can delete your account anytime — see our Privacy Policy — but approved stories remain on the public record under an anonymous handle.
Moderation
Every submission goes through human moderation before going public. Typical wait: 24 hours. We reject stories that violate the rules above, and we explain why. Repeat violations get accounts banned.

Disclaimers
Stories on CivicTab are users' personal accounts of their own experiences. They're not verified facts and they're not legal findings. Treat them like Yelp reviews — useful patterns, individual perspectives, not court rulings.
CivicTab is provided "as is" — we work hard to keep it up, but we can't guarantee uptime, accuracy of user-submitted content, or that every link will work forever.
If we ever have a dispute
Email us first: hello@civictab.app. We respond to every real complaint within 48 hours. Formal disputes are resolved under the laws of the State of Wyoming, in Wyoming courts. By using CivicTab you waive the right to a class action — you can still sue us individually.
Changes to these terms
We'll email signed-in users 14 days before any material change.
